New Year... New Me (or at least that's what I'm going for)

So, I've given up on resolutions these last several years. I always feel like I'm just setting myself up for failure. I think starting over in the dead of winter when it's all cold and dark early is hard.  I wish the new year started in spring. That makes sense doesn't it? New leaves, baby animals being born, birds singing, sun shining. Everything seems new and fresh and wonderful when spring starts rolling around. But no, we thought it would be a good idea to start our new year and our resolutions when all I wanna do is cuddle under a blanket with a cup of something hot.
However, this year I think I'll try the whole resolution thing. November and December were rough. I moved, my car broke down, etc. etc. That doesn't sound so bad, but when you slap Christmas on top of moving and having to pay a massive amount to fix your car (which took two weeks to fix btw) it gets a little overwhelming. Though I can't really complain too much. There are a lot out there with a lot worse going on. Though that being said, all the stress coupled with the holiday season had me sooo not caring what I was eating and I'm really starting to feel it.

My resolutions this year are pretty basic: eat healthier, move more, be more organized, get my finances together and buy a house (ok buying a house might not be on everyone's resolution list), paint more, and work harder on my Etsy store  Man in the Paper Moon (which I've neglected recently)

One of the good things about moving places, is that this new neighborhood is much better for walking, which is one of the few exercises I actually enjoy... so I'm going to do my damnedest to take advantage of that while I'm here. Plus my boyfriends parents got me some nice new walking shoes, which I love wearing. I never knew the beauty of sneakers before. They're like little pillows for my feet.

This morning I woke up, went upstairs to make some matcha tea, and threw out all the left over holiday bad foods ( including a few things that were in there from before). I replaced some of the items with protein powder, coconut oil, bee pollen, and apple cider vinegar. Purging always feels so good. I'm sure though that in a week I'll get some major craving and completely regret throwing out everything. So that's why I gotta do it while the will power lets me.

Something that seems to help me with staying on top of being healthy is keeping shit organized. If my living space and my schedule are nuts, I have a hard time keeping the rest of my life free of chaos and then it becomes a free for all and I start falling back into old habits.  My best friend got me this awesome planner with colored pencils and stickers and junk to use in it (I love color coding things!)
I stayed up late labeling when bills are due and all that and putting stickers next to the really important stuff. Super nerded out on my planner.

I go to Atlanta this weekend to take Wesley back home. When I get back, I'm going to reopen the Etsy shop (I've had it closed for the last month and a half). I really need to list some items. I have a massive amount of inventory that needs to go on. Just gotta put on some records and power through the listing. It's the worst part of the shop. I really really hate doing the listing and measuring and crap. It's worth it though when I see it all up in the shop. So keep an eye out for more clothes in the store. I promise there will be some fantastic stuff.

I think I'll spare you the whole resolution about buying a house until there is more to share. It's just something I've been working toward the last year and am really close. Credit scores are delicate little creatures. I'm also not going to go into depth about needing to paint more. But when I finally get off my ass and paint something I'll post it. Painting is my first love. I think when we grow up and get busy we forget the things we love. We go to work, pay bills, maybe go see a movie now and then or go out to eat. But it's like... I get so distracted with stupid stuff, just survival stuff, that I forget to enjoy things that I really used to enjoy. I  let myself get worn out with the day to day.. working and things and I just come home and wanna watch Netflix or whatever and not think. But you know, I miss things I used to love... like reading books, or camping, or pressing flowers, or bird watching. I think I've just added a new resolution to my list; ENJOY LIFE!

Birthday O' Mine

So this last September.... I turned... 39 EEK!  It feels really weird to be on the last leg of my thirties. I liked my thirties. Your thirties are good stuff.
But I'm not here to delve into feeling older or any of that. I just wanted to share a little picture. I walked into work the day after my birthday (I didn't work the day of) and found this...
My sweet co-worker, Tara, put out some cute decorations. Banners, flowers on my cutting station, paper hats and paper straws (I love paper straws!). I did, for the record, wear the paper hat for at least half that day. Thanks Tara for the adorable birthday decorations and for getting pie instead of cake!

Fall Vintage Trends for 2016

So I read a pretty awesome article from Etsy's blog yesterday on the up and coming fashion trends for Autumn. I was excited about it because, well, I've already got some of that up in my store and a lot more to come.
I'm going to keep this post short... because basically.. it's a "Hey go look at my Etsy store and buy some stuff" post, and I don't want to shove that in anyone's face. But seriously... go look at my store and buy some stuff! Man in The Paper Moon
So here is a recap on that post followed by a picture of something in my shop. I'll link the original at the bottom.

First post:Let's see how this goes

Okay so I'm sitting here in my chair at my computer and I have no idea how to start this blog. I had a first post several years ago when I was in hair school.... I deleted that.
So like I said, I'm sitting here and starting things is always the worst right? I'm not a writer, I'm not a blogger, I'm not good at spelling, and my grammar sucks (so you'll have to please excuse my many mistakes that are sure to come up). I used to be good at keeping a journal when I was 18 and tried to make everything sound like I was in a Jane Austen novel, but you know, no one else is reading those but me so no pressure (unless I die famous and they find them years after my death... which is what I used to think about when I wrote them. We know that's not happening though.).
So I'm sitting here and I guess the first post has to be a sort of introduction. So here goes. (This stuff gets boring but it must be gotten out of the way) I'm Chandra *waves*. I am 38 and fast approaching 39, which is really weirding me out right now. I moved from Portland Oregon to Chattanooga Tennessee, got my bachelors in art... did art restoration for several years, bad economy went to hair school, I do hair part time and work one day a week at an antique store. (Still with me?) I sell antiques at two booths in town with my boyfriend. Oh yeah...I have a boyfriend (Wesley)

Wesley and I wearing matching ponchos we found at Goodwill
he helps me with stuffs.

I  also have a chihuahua,
Chico hating on me because I made him wear that denim jacket

a best friend of 15 years,
My best friend, Emily
and an Etsy store (https://www.etsy.com/shop/ManinthePaperMoon
I am currently obsessed with little ceramic animals, Polaroids,
and trying to find an 80's Swatch watch. My obsessions change often. I'm sure you will discover that as we go along.
So... (I say so too much) I think this blog is going to be a platform for me to post stuff I like, like vintage pictures of ... whatever. Or thrifting trips and sneak peaks at Etsy items I'll be putting up soon, and probably a lot of pictures of my dog, 'cause that's what people do, post pictures of their pets.
And on that note, I will leave you with a little of Fats Waller doing his thang. Aint Misbehavin
